Nimsoft Provides New Automation for Monitoring of VMware

Nimsoft Continues to Lead in Central Monitoring of Physical and Virtual Infrastructure

Redwood City, California - February 26, 2008 – Nimsoft, Inc., the “Big 4” alternative for IT performance and availability monitoring solutions, today announced that Nimsoft continues to lead the industry in the real time monitoring of virtualized and physical environments. Now NimBUS for VMware delivers several new automation features that provide customers ultimate control over the performance of their VMware environments. When using NimBUS for VMware, customers will realize significant savings from centrally managing virtual and physical IT infrastructure to actively protect the quality of business services and customer satisfaction.

NimBUS for VMware now triggers the VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler to migrate virtual machines based upon performance issues that impact service level agreements and other business-centric policies. Without real time visibility, IT managers were unable to evaluate the impact of the virtual machine migrations according to the end user or application experience. The IT manager may choose to be alerted via email, text message or paged when NimBUS initiates the migration. NimBUS for VMware’s new automation increases the IT customer’s control over virtual environments and how they impact the end user.

New Automated Alerting and Reporting of VMware Event Logs

Event logs, which serve as a historical archive for processes and functions of the IT infrastructure, are often the first source of information to troubleshoot unidentifiable failures and persistent performance issues. The NimBUS event log monitoring solution now offers automated searches according to key criteria within the VMware environment. IT managers may now quickly distill relevant information to effectively pinpoint issues related to the VMware ESX hosts, Virtual Machines and Virtual Center in addition to physical resources. This new feature for VMware will eliminate hours of non-strategic work in the day-to-day management of physical and virtual environments, which furthers the business value of VMware.

Auto Discovery and Configuration of VMware Environments

NimBUS for VMware now provides auto discovery of all ESX hosts, virtual machines, clusters and resource pools, part of Nimsoft’s signature zero administration feature set. Auto discovery significantly reduces time for deployment, bringing a quicker ROI for new virtualization initiatives. NimBUS offers out-of-the box template dashboards, in addition to a design tool set that allows customers to customize the look, feel and the representation of the infrastructure to reflect their business and services.

NimBUS for VMware strongly complements VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler, which automatically migrates virtual machines between ESX hosts according to CPU, disk and memory.
